Our team of specialists are continually updating their knowledge and skills. We attend international symposiums, read the latest research papers and articles, and stay up-to-date with the most recent advances in technology and specialised products. Naturally, all this studying develops our surgery skills and we are able to apply the new techniques in our work. We also make a point of sharing this accumulated knowledge with our dentist and hygienist colleagues. This week, we hosted a lecture event on periodontics that included photographs and video of us at work and we’re pleased to say the evening was a resounding success.

Well-Attended Event

The Colney and Conservatory Room at Park Farm Hotel in Hethersett provided a lovely venue for the 76 attendees who arrived keen to learn something new on a Tuesday evening. It was a great chance for industry colleagues to meet, network and hear three lectures from our specialists. As well as the informative subject matter (more on that below) the lectures provided two hours of verifiable Continuing Professional Development.

Thank You to Our Sponsor

The event was sponsored by Wrights Dental Supplies, who are the chosen supplier of our buying group. By bringing together GDPs from multiple small practices, we can make bulk purchases that reduce overheads. Alex Mond, the Territory Sales Manager from Dentsply, and Aine Kerlin, Dental Territory Manager for GlaxoSmithKline, were both there to support us. Aine even provided attendees with a free goody bag containing the newly launched Corsodyl toothpaste.

Three Informative Lectures

At Norfolk Dental Specialists, we like to share the knowledge we acquire. We attend peer group and mentorship groups and we teach at University Hospitals and Dental Colleges. Lecture events like this one are a great way of ‘updating’ GDPs and hygienists of the latest advances in their fields. The three lectures were all in the area of periodontics.

  • When Non-Surgical Treatment Doesn’t Work: Dr Hamed Karimi explained issues in non-surgical periodontal treatment – focussing on its systemic limitations.
  • Gingival Recession: Dr Imran Sharif looked at the causes of gingival recession and examined the surgical techniques to combat it and their limitations. We were even treated to a video of Imran in action – performing delicate periodontal surgery.
  • Furcation Involvement: Dr Aaron Lopez explained the existence, diagnosis and treatment of furcation involvement.

Norfolk Dental Specialists Journal

Furthering our mission to share our knowledge and our skills base, we are pleased to announce that we will shortly be publishing our own journal. The Norfolk Dental Specialists Journal will contain articles on best dental practice and our specialist techniques and procedures. As well as patient case studies from our specialist dentists, we will have insights and research related to our patient feedback and interesting articles/news related to being a Dentist in this lovely county of Norfolk.

Come to Our Next Event

We have a second update event planned for October this year. If you are interested in updating your knowledge of periodontal, endodontic and implant procedures and you are available on the 19th October, please get in touch.
